“Anger and resentment to those who make a lot of money.”
That’s what Andrew Coyne is saying about the Occupy Canada movement that has hit cities across the country even calling it a “phony class war”.
Coyne is the national editor of Macleans Magazine and he tells 570’s Gary Doyle just to disdain those who make a lot of money is not a helpful contribution to the debate.
He says even though poverty rates are at a 40 year low, the real aim of the protest should be the inequality that the bottom 10% of the population faces.
In the US, the occupy movement was based around the US banks needing a bail out, and the crash of the housing markets, both of which did not happen here.
“This is not terribly new the same people have been issuing the same demands for 20 years”
He says that this was not worth the excessive media attention that they received.
