Waterloo’s Miranda Ranieri and Canada’s women’s squash team beat Columbia to capture gold at the Pan Am Games in Mexico.
It was Miranda’s 3-1 victory over Silvia Angulo of Columbia that actually sealed it on Friday afternoon.
Ranieri tells 570 News hearing the Canadian National Anthem at the medal ceremony was spectacular.
“This Pan Am and the Commonwealth Games are sort of the equivalent to our Olympics.”
She says the team was focused and in the zone.
Ranieri grew up in Waterloo and just moved back to the city about a year ago.
