Lions run win streak to eight

REGINA, SK (NEWS1130) – Arland Bruce and Andrew Harris caught lengthy touchdowns in the fourth quarter to lift the BC Lions past the Saskatchewan Roughriders 29-18 for their eighth straight victory.
The first half was dominated by the kickers. Chris Milo kicked four field goals for the Roughriders while Paul McCallum had three for the Lions, giving Saskatchewan a 12-9 lead heading into the break.
The trend continued in the third quarter as Milo and McCallum exchanged field goals and then early in the fourth quarter Milo split the uprights for a sixth time to put his team up 18-12.
That was when the Lions offence took over. The Lions finally took the lead when Travis Lulay hit Arland Bruce for a 73-yard catch and run touchdown for the first major score of the game.
On the next possession the Leos got some insurance when Andrew Harris took a dump pass from Lulay and then broke a few tackles to take it 42 yards to the endzone.
McCallum capped the scoring with his fifth field goal of the game as BC ended on a 17-0 run.
The win pulls the Lions into a tie with the Edmonton Eskimos for first place in the West Division. Both teams have identical 9-6 records.
Lulay finished the day 16-of-29 passing for 287 yards and two touchdowns while Darian Durant went 29-for-45 for 281 yards.
The Lions will be on the road on Saturday taking on the Hamilton Tiger Cats.
