Kitchener watching the Jets

It’s a proud day for the Scheifele family.
18-year-old Mark Scheifele will make his NHL regular season debut later on this afternoon when the Winnipeg Jets host Montreal.
Scheifele was born in Kitchener and played minor hockey here.
He had an impressive pre-season with the Jets, leading the team in scoring with 4 goals and 4 assists in five games.
His mom, dad, brother and sister will all be in the stands at the MTS Centre when Mark hits the ice.
“If anybody is going to go somewhere in a sport it’s going to Mark, he seemed to have that focus and extra drive.” Mary Lou Scheifele said.
Mark’s mom says it brought tears to her eyes when she learned Mark would wear number 55 with the Jets.
He wore the number in minor hockey, it’s also a tribute to his older brother, Kyle who he shares a strong bond with.
Mary Lou says even when Mark is far away the two brothers still find a way to keep in touch.
Scheifele was Winnipeg’s first round draft pick, 7th overall, in June’s NHL Entry Draft.
