BC Lions look for win number three in Toronto

TORONTO, ON (NEWS1130) – Both of David Braley’s CFL teams are 2-6 heading into tonight’s game between the Lions and Argonauts. The squads will then head west and meet in eight days at the last game at Empire Field.
The Lions shellacked Edmonton 36-1 two weeks ago in Northern Alberta, and then had a bye last week. The club had two wins in August, after starting 0-5.
The Leos’ defence has improved as the season has worn on. BC is led by linebacker Solomon Elimimian, who has been named the league’s top defensive player for the opening two months of the season. Last year’s CFL rookie of the year leads the league in tackles with 54. The defensive secondary will feature rookie Cauchy Muamba at safety.
In their first eight games, the Leos have scored 203 points for and allowed 203 against.
Despite 62 yards rushing on 11 carries versus the Eskimos, running back Jamal Robertson will not play against his former team. Wally Buono is electing to play Jamall Lee, Tim Brown, and Andrew Harris.
Like BC, Toronto had the week off after a win. For the first time since Canada Day, Toronto edged Saskatchewan on August 18, 24-18.
A couple of Toronto linemen spent time in BC. This is the first time Ricky Foley has faced his old squad since he stiffed them last year when he came back to the CFL after a failed attempt to play in the NFL. The defensive end verbally committed to returning to the Lions, but changed his mind and signed in Toronto, which is close to his hometown of Courtice, Ontario. Foley played the first four years of his career with BC.
Offensive tackle Rob Murphy spent the first three years of his CFL career in Vancouver. Now in his third year in Toronto, he is considered one of the nastiest players in the league.
Wally Buono’s teams have beaten the Argonauts in 11 of the last 12 meetings. Kickoff is just after 4:30 p.m.
