The Waterloo Airshow is on at the Region of Waterloo International Airport.
You might have saw or heard a formation of 4 yellow Harvard Aircraft flying over-head this morning.
Formation Flight Leader with the Canadian Harvard Aircraft Association, Greg Burnard tells 570 News the Harvard is a piece of Canadian Heritage, “from World War II what everybody remembers as being the airplane that every pilot trained on. In this country there was 137, 000 plus aircrew that came through that flew these airplanes, and flew into the ’50’s and we’re trying not to let anybody forget that”.
Burnard adds the “roar of the Harvard” is thanks to two elements of the plane; its long exhaust pipe and the tips of the propeller breaking the sound barrier.
