Overnight roadwork Hwy 401 and Hwy 8

Starting tonight, overnight commuters who use the Westbound 401 to Highway 8 ramp will have to find another way.
Roadwork gets underway tonight and will continue from Monday to Thursday for the next two weeks. A single lane will be closed from 10 p.m. to 7 a.m. and the ramp will be completely shut down between 11 p.m. and 5 a.m.
Derek Illman with the MTO says it’s for road resurfacing. He says, “We’ve had to do a little bit of additional paving in there to correct some deficiencies…all this work is weather dependent.”
Illman says the the work will be worth the inconvenience because drivers will get a smoother drive through the area and it will help prevent emergency work through the winter
