Cambridge resident $1 million richer

Cambridge resident Joseph Chartrand luckily found his missing ENCORE ticket from the July 23, 2011 draw. Good thing he did, because his numbers came up and he won $1 million on his ENCORE play.
“I almost lost the ticket. I couldn’t remember where I put it,” says the 38-year old. After a thorough search, fortunately he found the winning ticket in the front hall of his house.
Joseph couldn’t believe he won. “I was at home and checked it seven times on my mobile phone and on the computer while my wife was freaking out!” said Chartrand. “My son came in to see what was going on because she was screaming so loud. We were all excited!”
ENCORE can be played in conjunction with any printed lottery game for an additional fee of $1. There is an ENCORE draw every day.
The first thing Joseph wishes to do with his windfall is pay for his family’s education and then help out some of his close relatives and friends.
“My wife has always dreamed of being able to go back to school and the same with my son, and now they can,” he said emotionally.
The winning ticket was purchased at Little Short Store on Jamieson Parkway in Cambridge.
