6th c-diff death in Guelph

There’s been a sixth c-difficile related death at Guelph General Hospital.

Officials say this latest death was a hospital-acquired case of the bacterial illness. It also comes just one day after a fifth c-difficile related death was announced at the hospital.

Patient confidentiality prevents the hospital from providing specific details but they are reporting the fifth death happened sometime last week. The only information on this sixth death is that it has happened “sometime since” the fifth.

The hospital began noticing abnormally high levels of the illness in May and declared a c-difficile outbreak July 5th.

There are still four patients at Guelph General Hospital with c-difficile.
