It’s hip to be square today in Waterloo and Kitchener, square2square that is!
The second ever “car-free Sunday” event is happening today.
square2square has portions of King Street closed to motor vehicle traffic in both Waterloo and Kitchener from 11am to 3pm.
Waterloo City Councilor Melissa Durrell tells 570 News this event was coordinated with the UpTown Waterloo Jazz Festival and Ribfest & Craft Beer Show in Kitchener’s Victori Park to attract a number of people into the downtown core.
Durrell says there wil be plenty to see and do for the whole family including live music, street scrabble, zumba demonstrations and an artist market.
King Street will be closed to traffic from Union to Central in Waterloo and from Gaukel to Victoria in Kitchener.
The first “car-free Sunday” was held in Waterloo on June 19th.
