Industrial accident brings down hydro wires

Damage is estimated at $80,000 after an industrial accident in North Dumfries Township on Tuesday afternoon.

A mobile rock drill was being directed into a driveway in an industrial area when the drill caught some overhead hydro wires and the force caused the live wires to break, land on a nearby lawn and catch fire.

Police say a hydro pole equipped with a transformer also caught fire and fell causing extensive damage to a fence and construction equipment.

No one was hurt and no charges were laid.
