Upbeat hiring survey

A new Bank of Canada survey finds Canadian businesses are upbeat about hiring.

57 per cent of companies that were surveyed plan to hire over the next year, compared to four per cent who will scale back their workforce.

The service sector is expected to see the strongest gains.

It follows a positive job report for the month of June.

Locally, the unemployment rate dipped from 7.3 in May to 6.9 per cent last month.
