Nudity law challenged

The issue of being nude in public goes on trial in Ontario today. Lawyers for a man charged for being naked at a drive-thru will try to convince a judge it should no longer be a crime to be nude in public.

Brian Coldin is on trial after allegedly being nude at an A&W and a Tim Hortons in the cottage country community of Bracebridge.

He is also alleged to have pretended to reach into his non-existent back pocket for his wallet.

His lawyers argue nudity laws under are too broad and unconstitutional.

Coldin’s lawyer says if the laws are overturned, it will no longer be a crime to be nude while sunbathing or changing at the beach.

But, there would still be public indecency laws still on the books so, acting inappropriately could still end in charges.
