If you plan to mark Canada Day with fireworks at home, Waterloo Fire Rescue is urging caution, especially when it comes to the kids.

It says even something as simple as sparklers can be dangerous.

Waterloo Fire has a suggestion: why not check out the Canada Day celebrations at the University of Waterloo’s Columbia Lake Fields, which come complete with fireworks?

John Percy, Public Education Officer with Waterloo Fire Rescue tells 570 News they’ll be there, set up in the activity world section.

You shouldn’t have any trouble finding their booth: there will be a fire truck nearby.
