Report: Auction postponed

New developments in Waterloo’s ongoing Northdale neighbourhood saga.

An auction of properties in that area set for this Sunday has reportedly been postponed.

According to Thursday’s Record, that’s because more property owners there have decided to join a mass auction of properties.

The number has grown from 31 to at least 38 properties, as a dispute over the city’s new rental housing bylaw heats up.

The owners argue the bylaw has driven down the value of their properties and they are hoping selling the homes as a block will be attractive to developers.

The delay in the auction is so lawyers can add the new properties to documents.
