Leos kick it through a perfect pre-season

VANCOUVER (NEWS1130) – The BC Lions had three field goals from Paul McCallum and one from Hugh O’Neill as they defeated Saskatchewan 34-6. Korey Banks also had a 65 yard interception return for a touchdown for the Leos.

Rookie quarterback Mike Reilly threw a pair of touchdown passes in the final three minutes to Nick Moore and Tim Brown. Reilly looks like he has won the third quarterback position, as he was eight-for-eight, for 108 yards. Fellow first year pivot Corey Leonard was one-for-seven, with one interception and no touchdowns. Starter Travis Lulay played the first half and completed 11 of 20 passes for 104 yards.

The 41-year-old McCallum kicked field goals of 47, 41 and 23 yards. O’Neill crushed a 50 yard field goal in the third quarter.

Defensive back Banks picked off Roughrider quarterback Darian Durant late in the first quarter for his touchdown.

In a pair of pre-season games, the Leos outscored their opponents 58-6.

The regular season opens on June 30 in Montreal.
