Canada Post says contract talks with its urban workers have stalled.
Canada Post says the Canadian Union of Postal Workers has rejected compromises proposed by management to address sick leave and staffing levels.
It also contends that CUPW refuses to discuss ways to reduce costs and address declining mail volumes and increasing competition.
The union issued its own update, saying workers will go on strike in Kitchener and Quebec City starting at 11pm.
CUPW also says it is prepared to be flexible on its bargaining position provided that Canada Post is willing to address the problems its employees face in the workplace.
Canada Post has said the strikes have had a disastrous effect on customer confidence and the Crown corporation’s revenue since the first walkout last week.
