Likely no tornado in Guelph

Environment Canada does not believe that a tornado touched down in the Guelph area overnight.
Warning Preparedness Meteorologist Geoff Coulson says crews are surveying the damage in the area but he says, “everything they’ve seen so far though, has been consistent more with a downburst event…”
There was heavy damage as the storm brought down trees and power lines. 570’s Mark Douglas was in Guelph this morning to check out the damage…
Coulson says teams were in the Hamilton area earlier today and have confirmed there was no tornado there either. They say it was a downburst with winds between 100 and 110 km/hour.
He adds that Environment Canada is tracking another overnight storm and that we could see showers and thunder in Kitchener-Waterloo.
