“Stratford: best connected?”

The City of Stratford has failed in its bid to win the gold medal honour of “Intelligent Community” 2011.
The Intelligent Community Forum chose Eindhoven, the Netherlands this afternoon for that honour.
The Forum judges cities and communities from around the world to see which is best connected for internet service and related economic growth.
Stratford Mayor, Dan Mathieson, previously told 570 News winning the title would help show everyone from town residents to people around the world that Stratford is “stepping onto the stage” in new ways.
Mathieson said Stratford has a lot more than the Shakespeare Festival to boast about, specifically the new Digital Media Institute with the University of Waterloo.
Stratford made the Top 7 finalists, along with Windsor, three U.S. cities, a city in France, and Eindhoven.
Quebec City and Winnipeg made the Top 21, but did not advance.
Waterloo won the title of Intelligent Community in 2007.
