OPP safety blitz

Ontario Provincial Police are conducting a holiday weekend safety blitz on the roads, water and trails.
Police will be on the lookout for distracted, drunk and aggressive drivers, as well as unsafe vehicles.
The Victoria Day weekend is considered the unofficial start of summer, and it means heavier traffic on highways to cottage country.
It didn’t take long for officers to remove the plates from an unsafe vehicle today. About 10 minutes into the start of the campaign, a car without working brake lights, turn signals, working horn or a back seat was taken off the road.
Sgt. Dave Woodford said four people were killed on highways patrolled by provincial police during the Victoria Day weekend last year. There were no fatalities on the water or on ATVs.
