Cutting cheques doesn’t cut it

The Liberal candidate for Cambridge says the riding lacks leadership.
Bryan May believes that the area deserves everything it has received from the last parliament but he’s adamant that the job doesn’t end there.
“My goal is to not just simply cut cheques to the riding,” May says in an interview with 570 News.

“We need to embrace all of this technology, (including) Facebook and Twitter,” May notes. “And this is yet another opportunity to reach out to the mass market and get the message across.”
That message, according to May, is to reverse what he describes as a trend of wasteful spending on political advertising and monies given to government-friendly ridings as in the Tony Clement example around the G20.
May believes there needs to be more investment in jobs and education for a sustainable economy and not just short-term fixes. He sees some elements of that sustainable economy right in Cambridge.
“Digital technologies, green resources and health and biosciences,” May lists. “We’re in a unique position to be right smack dab in the middle of all these areas and we need to focus on moving our economy in that direction. And that will be my goal.”
