Vote Mob at UW

Over 100 University of Waterloo students, some decked out in red and white, others in hockey garb, and others dressed as vegetables gathered at the Student Life Centre this afternoon for a Vote Mob.
Students were encouraged to write why they vote on a post-it note and stick it over their mouths to represent the sometimes silent vote of youth.
They were then told to form a circle where they proudly displayed their right to vote. They warmed up and ran to another location where they jumped and sang “O Canada” after ripping off the post-it.
John Cunningham is an organizer of the Vote Mob. He says there is too much voter apathy. He says, “A lot of people think that…their opinions don’t matter…and that’s why they don’t vote. And I think that…if a big enough group of us does something about it, we can change things.”
One students quipped, after all their running and jumping, that they were really “exercising their right to vote.”
