WRPS welcomes new officers

Six new police officers joined the ranks of the Waterloo Regional Police Service today. A badge ceremony was held this afternoon at Elmira District Secondary School.
The class leader, Constable Steve Churm, spoke with 570 News. He says the class has worked hard over the past four months to graduate from basic training at the Ontario Police College in Aylmer and are now ready to be sent on duty.

The new members come from a variety of backgrounds.
Constable Churm mentioned how his army background has helped prepare him for his new career. The other new officers come from backgrounds including psychology, gerontology, kinesiology and computer studies.
