Ashley Smith inquest delayed

The start of the Ashley Smith inquest has been pushed back until May.
It was set to start on Monday, but has been delayed as the result of an impending application for judicial review.
The inquest will now start on May 16th.
Smith asphyxiated herself at the Grand Valley Institution in Kitchener nearly four years ago, after spending 11 months in federal custody.
Smith’s family is challenging a decision by the coroner to exclude videos from her time in Joliette Institution in Quebec, made less than 90 days before Smith’s death.
Dr. Bonita Porter ruled that the videos were not relevant to the inquest.
The family’s lawyer, Julian Falconer, says the videos depict the mentally ill teen being injected with anti-psychotic drugs while being restrained to a gurney for hours on end.
