Ottawa to implement sanctions against Gadhafi regime

The Harper government has announced legislation to implement sanctions against Libyan Leader Moammar Gadhafi’s regime.
It hopes the sanctions send a strong message to Gadhafi that he should step down. Government House Leader John Baird says calls Gadhafi’s regime “appalling.”
The sanctions include an arms embargo, an asset freeze and travel ban against Gadhafi and members of his family.
Meanwhile, Gadhafi says his people love him and would die for him. The Libyan leader made the claims in an interview today with ABC reporter Christiane Amanpour, telling her he will not step down.
Gadhafi also denies there have been demonstrations in Tripoli and says he has not used force against his people.
