New show debuts this weekend

Weekend listeners of this radio station will have another locally-produced program to enjoy. “The Farwell Files” debuts Saturday at 2 PM.
Hosted by Mike Farwell, this weekend’s premiere will be a special half-hour edition of the show before it moves to its regular time slot of 6 PM Sunday in the weeks ahead.
The show will take a “behind the headlines” approach to issues of the day, using long form interviews with local newsmakers to tell compelling stories.
Saturday’s show will take a closer look at literacy in Waterloo Region and its importance in developing the workforce of our future. According to guest Anne Ramsay, Executive Director of the Project Read Literacy Network, we need to change our attitudes towards literacy skills.
“Literacy is not a cost. It’s not something that’s an expense that we should look at,” Ramsay insists. “We should look at it as an investment in all the workers and taxpayers in our province.”
Monday is the second annual “Literacy Awareness Day” in Ontario.
