Huron County is looking into honouring two fallen police officers by possibly renaming a county road.
Huron County’s director of public works says the Huron provincial police approached him about dedicating County Road 12 as a memorial to police officers killed in the line of duty.
Dave Laurie says Const. Dave Mounsey was involved in a collision that ended his life on that road and it’s also where Const. Vu Pham was shot about a year ago.
Laurie says council is very supportive of the idea and has voted in favour of the dedication.
Laurie says police have suggested a cost-sharing plan for eight signs that would go up along the road and that’s what they’ll be looking into.
If the signs are done through the county, it would cost about $5,600 and they would split the price with the provincial police.
