Police chase in Woodstock

Woodstock Police say the action started yesterday morning at 9:40 while the Oxford County OPP were trying to stop a stolen pick-up on Highway 403.

The truck drove into Woodstock where officers from both police services were set up to keep watch.

The stolen Silverado entered a residential area, and the male driver left the pickup and stole another truck, a white GMC Yukon.

Officers spotted the stolen Yukon driving near the Woodstock Toyota Plant, where the suspect driver continued to flee from police after almost hitting an officer near an intersection.

The stolen Yukon was then spotted back on city streets where it had a fender-bender with a minivan.

The male driver then gave up on the Yukon and tried to car-jack yet another vehicle.

Only then was the 27-year old male driver and a 26-year old female passenger arrested, with two Woodstock Police officers taking minor injuries during the arrest.

The investigation is still ongoing and police hope anyone who witnessed any part of this incident to call with information.

Police are particularly interested in speaking with the drivers of the two transport trucks that were near the Toyota plant just after 10:00 a.m.

Both the people arrested, who are both from Brantford, have at 9:00 a.m. appointment at the Woodstock Courthouse.
