Storm warning now in effect

Environment Canada has issued a Winter Storm Warning for Waterloo Region and much of Southern Ontario, including Wellington County.

It’s a huge storm that’s expected to be felt all the way from Windsor to well east of Toronto.

The storm is developing over Texas, picking up moisture from the Gulf of Mexico – moisture that will turn to snow as it tracks north toward the lower Great Lakes.

We will experience flurries and light snow today and then later today the snow will pick up developing into a full blown storm by tomorrow morning.

570 News Weather specialist John Wilson expects our area will receive between 20 and 25 centimetres of snow – half of it overnight and the rest tomorrow.

So, up to 10 inches of snow before it tapers off later tomorrow.

Making matters worse is the winds will pick up, triggering blowing snow, drastically reduced visibility and blizzard-like conditions at times.
