Local Lottery Winners Claim Prize

They knew within hours of the draw that they were millionaires. But they waited almost a week before hopping in a limousine and travelling to Toronto to claim their $6.8-million prize.
“We had to think about it for a couple of days because we’re all in shock,” confirmed group spokesperson Brian, who didn’t want to give his last name.
He joked that his only disappointment was that the OLG offices did not have a bar but he promised the group from Kitchener and Waterloo would be having “a liquid run” home in their limo.
The six customers and employees of the Prime B-B-Q Restaurant on Highland Road in Kitchener had been playing the lottery together for about two years. They’re all “pretty happy” about the win, according to Brian, who already has plans for his share of the money.
“I am going to be taking care of my beautiful wife and lovely daughter and the rest we’ll probably have some fun with,” Brian laughs.
And as for that dream many of us share, the one where we can walk into the boss’ office and tell him or her that we’re quitting? Brian is living that dream.
“Retirement has caught up to me,” Brian says. “I’m officially going to pack my bag and say sayanora.”
The group matched the winning numbers for the top prize in last Wednesday’s Lotto 6/49 draw.
