Blood urgently needed

Canadian Blood Services has issued a plea for donors in advance of the Christmas lull.

Supplies are down and typically, over the holidays, they are depleted even further.

Tara Brodrecht from the K-W Blood Donor Clinic at Bridgeport and Weber says her branch alone has a huge need.

She tells 570 News between Christmas Eve and New Year’s Eve they need to collect 390 units of blood to meet hospital demand, but as of right now, they have only booked around 200 appointments.

She says just one donation can save three lives.

Ideally, you should book an appointment to give blood, but they also accept walk-ins.

She recommends you are feeling well, have a good meal and drink water before dropping by.

You also need to show I-D.
