What’s up with pump prices?

The prices at the gas pumps have soared by about 10 per cent in the past month.

About four weeks ago, the cost to fill up was at about $1.01, but prices are now hovering at around $1.10.

Part of the blame has been attributed to the Shell refinery closure in Montreal, Que., in September.

Gas price watcher Liberal MP Dan McTeague said Shell was producing 130,000 barrels a day at the refinery, but now, the company is buying from other suppliers to fill the void.

McTeague says he wouldn’t be surprised if the price rises another 10-cents in the coming months.
