Officer facing drug charges

A Waterloo Regional Police officer has been suspended on allegations he stole drugs seized during an investigation.

Police say Constable Andrew Robson was arrested yesterday and a quantity of pot was found on him.

He has been with the force for six years and was assigned to the Cambridge division.

Robson was charged with theft and possession of a controlled substance and will appear in court on January 11th.

In response to the arrest, Police Chief Matt Torigian says when incidents like this happen, his organization takes action quickly to make sure it maintains the community’s trust.
