Fluoridation vote

The fluoridation of the City of Waterloo’s tap water could be a thing of the past by the end of the month.
A regional committee is today expected to vote on a proposal to halt the practice, which would be in line with the results of a referendum during last month’s municipal elections.
City residents voted a shade over 50% to end fluoridation: a practice in Waterloo since 1967.
If approved today, the final okay could come at the next full regional council meeting on November 24th.
This morning’s Record reports, the fluoride tap could be turned off at noon on November 29th.
The region is also considering ending fluoridation in Elmira, St. Jacobs and a small part of Kitchener.
