Rogers Communications, the parent company of 570 News, is blowing out 50 candles today.
On September 30th, 1960, Ted Rogers purchased a fledgling FM radio station with an $85,000 loan.
In the last 50 years, Rogers has built a media powerhouse that includes 53 radio stations, specialty television stations, magazines, and the Toronto Blue Jays.
Rogers was also the first cable company in North America to launch commercial high-speed internet service.
The company currently employs over 30 thousand people.
