Ottawa is putting up $80 million to help science students get closer to that first great job.
The Graduate Enterprise Internship was announced today by local MP Gary Goodyear, speaking as the Minister of State for the Federal Economic Development Agency for Southern Ontario.
The program has up to $20-million over four years for the cost of projects where small or medium sized companies in Southern Ontario hire recent grads and post-grads from science, technology, engineering, and mathematics programs.
The program pays up to $15,000 for a post-grad student’s salary, and up to $10,000 for the salary of those who finished an undergraduate program within five years before they were hired.
Goodyear tells 570 News he expects the program will aid some 5,000 young adults.
