New Chamber President

Ian McLean is trading in his seat on Waterloo City Council for a seat at the head of the table at the Chamber of Commerce.
The seven-year councillor will become the new President and CEO of the KW Chamber on October 5th.
McLean tells 570 News he will finish out his term as a city councillor until the post-election council is sworn in this December.
He says with the municipal election coming in weeks, this is a “lame duck” time at council, but should anything come up that would cause a conflict with his new position at the Chamber, he would step out of the discussion.
McLean says the new job at the Chamber was not the reason for choosing to not run for re-election, adding “it’s no state secret” he was already looking for a new challenge before he learned of the Chamber job in June.
McLean says he’s honoured to be chosen to lead the Chamber, and his mix of experience from small and big business and elected office gives him a unique perspective for the job.
McLean was elected twice to city council.
