Vet drugs stolen

A warning from Perth County OPP after a disturbing theft in Listowel.

Police say two vehicles were ransacked yesterday and among the items taken was a box containing veterinary drugs including one used to euthanize cows.

Police warn just 15 millilitres of one of the drugs is enough to kill a person.

Police say if you know the whereabouts of the box or drugs to call 9-1-1 immediately.

It’s a grey plastic Sentry fire safe box, roughly 25 centimetres wide, 19 centimetres deep and 15 centimetres high.

It contained four bottles of lethal drugs.

The box contained two 250 ml. sized plastic bottles of Euthansol, a drug used to euthanize cows.  60 ml. has been removed from one of the bottles and was used to euthanize a full sized cow (15 ml. of this drug will be lethal to a human being).

It also contained one 10 ml. sized glass vial with 9 ml. of (Ketamine) Ketaset, a very strong anesthetic drug.  The 1 ml. taken from this vial was used to sedate a calf.  The remaining content of this vial is lethal
to a human being.

It contained one 10 ml. sized glass vial with 9 ml. of Torbogesic (Butorphanol). A very strong sedative used to sedate horses.  The remainder of this vial is toxic and lethal to a human being.

Perth County OPP warn that handling these drugs could result in lethal consequences.
