A Kitchener man has been sentenced to 16 years in prison for one of the largest ever drug seizures at the Ambassador Bridge in Windsor.

41 year old Lacchman Singh Chahal was sentenced after he was found guilty of possession for the purpose of trafficking, and importing and exporting.

Chahal and another man were charged after Customs officers found more than 140 kilograms of cocaine in a shipment of vegetables from California.

The whereabouts of the second man, Sandeep Hans, are unknown and he was sentenced in absentia to 16 years.
