Boots may hold clue

Police say the killer of an Orangeville woman wore a specific type of boots and likely knew the area where she lived.

OPP Detective-Inspector Mark Pritchard
says the killer of 42-year-old nurse Sonia Varaschin was wearing men’s size 10 or 11 boots.

Investigators say the footwear is either Wind River or Dakota brand boots sold exclusively by Mark’s Work Wearhouse.

Police are asking for members of the public to think back to the end of August, when the killer may have come home with unexplained stains on his clothes or boots.

Varaschin’s remains were found in a wooded area of Caledon on Sunday morning.
