Dialing up rebates

Some consumers will be getting cash back from the big phone companies.
It follows a decision today from The Canadian Radio-television and Telecommunications Commission.
The CRTC has ruled that $770 million it collected from the biggest telephone companies will be repaid to urban subscribers through rebates.
Smaller communities will also get improved Internet service.
The rebates from Bell Canada, Bell Aliant, Telus and MTS Allstream will range from $20 to $90.
The CRTC began collecting money from the major telephone companies in 2002 as a way to encourage competition in the local phone market.
