“Becky Hoops” and the “Juggle Bugs” are ready for YOU! So are “The Human Knot” and “Chalkmaster Dave”. The question is – are you ready for them?
The 2010 Waterloo Busker Carnival is taking over the downtown core this weekend for the 22nd year. While the format of the Carnival remains largely unchanged – Tracey Johnston-Aldworth – who is Co-Director of the “Festival of Fools” says the size and scope of the event has grown significantly.
With names like “Bike Boy” and “Fire Guy” it’s pretty obvious that the shows will have a level of entertainment not seen everyday. Johnston-Aldworth says that once again – this years collection of buskers is a great mix of talent from all over the world.
After the initial success of the first Carnival in 1988, the Waterloo Chamber of Commerce decided to pass its running onto a volunteer committee. The volunteers are a dedicated group who continue to be the backbone of the festival and its long running success.
As for the cost – the performances are free to watch – BUT performers will pass a hat around at the end of each 45-minute show. Patrons are invited to pay what they think it’s worth.
The 4-day event kicked off on Wednesday night with their kick-off fundraiser and will close on Sunday afternoon with the “Family Vaudville Show” on the main stage beginning at 4 o’clock.
