The Kitchener Rangers have added some toughness to their blue line for the upcoming season.
Rangers Head Coach Steve Spott has announced that the team has acquired defensemen Cody Sol and Matt Braun from the Saginaw Spirit.
In return, the Spirit get forward Micky Sartoretto, a 2nd round pick in 2011 and a 3rd round pick in the 2013 OHL Priority Selection Draft.
This will be Sol’s fourth year in the league. Last year the Atlanta Thrashers draft-pick had career highs with 7 goals, 8 assists and 151 penalty minutes.
Braun only dressed 11 games earning 7 penalty minutes and 1 point.
In addition to the trade, the Rangers have annouced they’ve signed Julian Melchiori.
He’s a 6-foot-3, 186-pound defenseman that was bound for NCAA but has decided to come to Ranger Nation.
Melchiori spent last season with the Newmarket Hurricanes and recorded 23 points in 39 regular season game.
