Ottawa invests in research and innovation

Ottawa used a company in Kitchener as the backdrop for an 11 million dollar announcement for research and innovation today.
The investment will allow MITACS, a national research network that connects business and organizations with skilled workers, to expand two of its programs.
It will now offer 160 internships and individual training programs for PhD graduates and post-doctoral fellows.
One of the programs involves bringing 50 international students to southern Ontario.
Cambridge MP and Minister of State for Science and Technology Gary Goodyear says the investment will help increase business innovation and bring new ideas to market, as well as strengthen the local economy.
Today’s announcement was made at Unitron’s corporate offices on Beasley Drive.
