Devastating barn blaze

A barn fire near Elmira yesterday caused a quarter of a million dollars in damage.

Regional Police now say it’s believed to have been sparked by an overheated motor on an elevator.

The fire, on New Jerusalem Road between Hidden Acres Line and Scotch Line Road, destroyed the structure, causing $250,000 in damage.

Police say approximately 35 pigs and 5 to 10 cows died in the blaze.
