Qualifying starts for the WOW Tennis Challenger

Qualifying starts this morning at the WOW Tennis Challenger at the Waterloo Tennis Club.

It’s the third year the club has hosted the tournament.

Professional women tennis players from 15 countries
are participating.

Kitchener’s Amanda Owen was awarded the wild card spot.

There is a 25 thousand dollar purse up for grabs.

Tournament Director, John Bezear tells 570 News the goal is to get it to 50 or 75 thousand dollars.

He says that will attract the top 100 players in the world.

The final takes place next Sunday.
