Pellet gun scare prompts reminder

The city of Kitchener is reminding residents that they are not allowed to fire pellet guns in town.
The reminder comes one day after a Kitchener man reportedly admitted to shooting at pigeons from his roof with a pellet gun. He was not charged.
Bylaw enforcement officer Shayne Turner says air rifles are considered firearms by the municipality and can only be discharged by police or animal control officers.
He says only in special circumstances, like for a gun club, would they allow air rifles to be used.
Turner says that on average, they deal with two or three incidents a year that are similar to the one from yesterday.
