Heat wave continues

It will be a few days before a triple whammy of hot, humid and hazy weather leaves the Region.
Temperatures in the 30’s, which feel more like the 40’s when humidity is factored in, are forecast again today and tomorrow.
Some relief is expected by Friday, as a cold front is forecast to sweep in and drop temperatures closer to seasonal norms.
With air conditioners running at full blast, Ontario is already pushing its power demands to extremes and the same is expected again today.
A blackout hit Toronto yesterday that left tens of thousands of people in the heat and power outages may become a concern in the days ahead.
The heat advisory covers southern Ontario and southern Quebec, from Windsor to the Ottawa Valley, to Montreal and the St. Lawrence River, and of course right here in Waterloo Region.
570 News Weather Specialist John Wilson is calling for the smog and humidex advisories to continue today under mostly sunny skies. It will be hot and humid with a small chance of an isolated shower forming this afternoon. The guaranteed high is 33 degrees – with the humidex it will feel like 41. The temperature record for this day is 35.8 degrees – set back in 1988.
Tonight it will be clear with haze and a low of 22.
For Wednesday, the smog and humidex advisories are expected to continue under partly sunny skies again. It will be hazy, hot and humid with a high of 33 and a humidex making it feel like 41. The record temperature was 36.0 degrees – also in 1988.
On Thursday, the clouds begin to roll in but it will still be hazy, hot and humid with a growing chance of a late-day shower or thunderstorm. The high will be 32, the humidex near 40. The record is 35.6 degrees – again in 1988
As for Friday, an early shower is likely, then partly sunny and cooler in the afternoon with a high of 25 degrees.
By the way, we are not alone – many parts of the U-S are also suffering from the same heat wave.
