Extortion email

An email has been making the rounds that’s caught the attention of Regional Police and its Technological Crimes Unit.

Police say the subject line is “ACT FAST!!!” and the recipient is warned the safety of themselves and their family is in jeopardy unless they hand over $30,000.

Police say the sender claims to be an assassin.

They say the email is considered a hoax and they believe it’s the result of a computer virus.

Police recommend if you receive one of these emails to just delete it.
