No extradition for Waterloo man

A Waterloo man, accused of assisting a terrorist group in Sri Lanka, will not be extradited to the United States later this month.

His appeal of the order has resulted in him getting an extension of at least three months to fight the case.

This morning’s Record reports, 29-year-old Suresh Sriskandarajah had been facing an order to surrender next week at which time he would have been turned over to U.S authorities.

The hearing has now been put over to September.

Sriskandarajah is accused of helping the terrorist Tamil Tigers between 2004 and 2006.
